On the morning of November 20th, the opening ceremony of the 15-day Seminar on the Belt and Road Infrastructure Construction for International Talents was held at the Fengxian Campus. A total of 21 leaders and officers on public engineering and transportation, heavy equipment, road construction and other infrastructure construction fields from 5 Southeast Asian countries smoothly completed the study of China’s advanced infrastructure construction technologies and development concepts in three parts--urban planning and management, the application of new technologies for urban construction, and the development trend of urban construction.

The closing ceremony was hosted by Yang Xiufang (the vice president of SUCC). Ye Yinzhong (the president of SUCC), Li Wei (the general manager of the International Business Department of Shanghai Construction Group), Guo Hongtao (the vice president of SUCC), Zhao Chuning (the training manager of the HR Department of Shanghai Construction Group) and Gu Wei (the executive deputy secretary general of Minhang Vocational Education Group) attended the ceremony.

The Seminar achieved good feedbacks. The participated said that, through training, they not only broadened their horizons and learned cutting-edge business knowledge, but also newly experienced Chinese cultures and China’s experience. According to Mr. Mob Sinuon (a representative from National Polytechnic Institute of Angkor, Cambodia), the Seminar provided the participants with high-quality training courses, advanced teaching equipment and good learning environment; the Seminar was very successful, and all the students felt at home; Shuvala (a participant from Nepal) said that the Seminar on the Belt and Road Infrastructure Construction for International Talents allowed the participants to broaden their horizons on Shanghai’s large-scale infrastructure and rapid development; after returning to their motherlands, they would apply the proceeds of this Seminar in their work; the Seminar would be a milestone in their career.

Ye Yinzhong (the president of SUCC) issued course-completion certificates to the 21 participants, and delivered a speech. He pointed out that the Seminar introduced China’s successful cases in the field of infrastructure construction and shared the successful practices and development experiences of China’s reform and opening up. During the Seminar, the participants visited Shanghai and surrounding areas, and witnessed the great achievements of China’s reform and opening up. They personally Shanghai’s practice of constructing a global city, and established deep friendships with China, Shanghai and SUCC. He emphasized, “The Belt and Road construction adheres to the principle of joint negotiation, joint building and sharing. It is not closed. It is open and inclusive; it is not a solo of China, but a chorus of the countries along the route. He hoped that, after returning to their countries, the participants would bring China’s practical experience in infrastructure construction back to their own countries, deepen cooperation and exchanges with China, and promote common development. He also hoped that the participants would always pay attention to China and Shanghai, be friendly cultural messengers, peace messengers and friendship between China and the countries messengers, spread the seeds of peace, and pass on the banner of friendship from generation to generation. He said that SUCC would continue to work with Minhang Vocational Education Group, Shanghai Construction Engineering School and Shanghai Construction Group, further leverage the advantages of the schools and the enterprises, and contribute to the long-term friendship and more lasting cooperation between China and the countries along route of the Belt and Road initiative.

Due to the setting of cutting-edge curriculums, technologies-cultures integration and knowledge-practice integration, the Seminar on the Belt and Road Infrastructure Construction for International Talents training course has attracted the attention of many media. The Liberation Daily, the Wenhui Daily, the Eastday, the Xinhua Net, Shanghai Observer, the Shanghai Higher Vocational Education and other media conducted follow-up reports and promoted the Seminar.
