Experts Focus on the Development and Talent Vitality of Small and Medium-sized Cities in the Yangtze River Delta Region

At the forum, experts focused on the vitality of talents in small and medium-sized cities in the Yangtze River Delta region and carried out discussions.

"Professional Committee for Development Research of Small and Medium-sized Cities of Shanghai Society of Urban Studies" was unveiled. Focusing on major topics such as the development orientation, path and evaluation of small and medium-sized cities under the background of the integration strategy of the Yangtze River Delta, the Professional Committee organized and carried out relevant theoretical research, submitted decision-making and consulting reports to the government and relevant departments, and formed a series of research results on small and medium-sized cities.

"Innovation and Development Research Institute of Huaihe Ecological Economic Belt" was inaugurated and established at the same time. The Institute will deeply study the cooperation mechanism, coordinated development path, industrial transfer and industrial agglomeration construction, poverty prevention mechanism and rural revitalization of the central area of the Yangtze River Delta and the relatively less developed area of northern Anhui, and form a series of research results.

"In the current new logic of urban development of 'cities make people prosperous and people make industries prosperous', the importance of talents is becoming more and more prominent," Deng Zhituan, a researcher at the Institute of Urban and Population Development of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, told reporters in an interview, "As the most important power source of China's economic growth and one of the most active highlands for talent gathering, the Yangtze River Delta plays a key role in promoting the transformation of economy to high-quality development. However, compared with big cities, the talent vitality of small and medium-sized cities has been ignored to a certain extent."

"2020 Yangtze River Delta Urban Development Report -- Research on the Vitality of Small and Medium-sized Cities in Yangtze River Delta: Talents" (hereinafter referred to as the Report) was released at the forum. The Urban Development Research Center of Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College told reporters that the Report quantitatively measured 60 small and medium-sized cities in the Yangtze River Delta (including 8 suburbs in Shanghai), and constructed the talent vitality evaluation index system of small and medium-sized cities in the Yangtze River Delta from the three dimensions of talent environment, talent capacity and talent contribution.

It is reported that the Report selects several typical cases for in-depth analysis, systematically analyzes the advanced experience and practices, problems and challenges in the talent development of small and medium-sized cities in the Yangtze River Delta, and then evaluates the talent vitality of 60 small and medium-sized cities in the Yangtze River Delta.

At the forum, Cao Xuejuan, Director of Public Service and Social Development of the Executive Committee of the Yangtze River Delta Ecological and Green Integration Development Demonstration Zone, introduced the innovative measures of the Yangtze River Delta Integration Demonstration Zone in terms of public service integration.
