On November 5 (local time in Spain), the 2023 IFBB World Bodybuilding & Fitness Championships wrapped up in Santa Susanna, a suburb of Barcelona, Spain. The Championships attracted 1,700 athletes from 102 countries and regions including China. Cao Jing, a full-time teacher of Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College, won third place in Women's Artistic Fitness over 168 cm, becoming the first medal-winner from China in women's fitness sports in the Championships.

After the competition, Cao Jing said that this year marked the first time for China to return to the international arena after three consecutive years of absence from the Championships. The 50 outstanding athletes who stood out from the China University Fitness and Bodybuilding Championships, Fitness Championship, and Bodybuilding Championship showcased the country's strength in the international competition on behalf of China. Differing from other sports, each competitor of Women's Artistic Fitness will be called onstage to perform a 90-second artistic fitness routine. In addition to strength training and fasted cardio 2-3 times a day, competitors should train artistic skills in daily preparations, including stretches, bounce, support, and choreography. Especially during the low-carbohydrate diets for sodium excretion, the body is extremely weak, and competitors rely on strong willpower to prepare for the artistic fitness routine performance.

The year's Championships incorporated Men's Bodybuilding, Men's Classic Bodybuilding, Men's Games Classic Bodybuilding, Men's Classic Physique, Muscular Men's Physique, Men's Physique, Men's Fitness, Women's Physique, Women's Bodyfitness, Women's Fitness, Women's Wellness, Women's Bikini, Mixed-Pairs, Fit-Pairs, and Fitness Challenge. A total of 50 Chinese athletes competed in 12 sports except for Muscular Men's Physique, Women's Physique, and Fitness Challenge. With six gold, six silver, and 10 bronze medals, China ranked third in the Men's Team (Senior) and secured third place in the Men's Team (Junior). The country won the most gold medals and medals in total and obtained the highest team score since it joined IFBB.
